Welcome

Welcome to my blog! I’m from the University of Lincoln, UK and I’m in the process of creating a solo performance for May – follow my process here; where I shall be posting my writings and research, plus at top of the page is a link to my diary where you can read about my journey.  Please feel free to comment, though approval needs to be given so no spam thank you, and just enjoy.

This blog is being assessed and will go towards my final grade and ultimately my degree result. Below is the first post I created and beneath that is a link to take you to all my posts (or you can click on Dave’s posts at the top of the page whenever to get there) – you may also notice the buttons along the right which will take you to posts that link to that category. It will help you muddle through everything.

All the best,

Dave

This is the first example of what I shall be blogging – hopefully the standard will increase from here in. I shall be using this blog to present to the world my journey in creating a solo performance. Strangely enough, last night I was watching Julie and Julia which as some will know is a film about two true stories; one Julia Child creating her cook book and the other more recent of Julie Powell blogging about her attempt to cook every recipe in Child’s book in one year. I felt this would be appropriate to include that film in my first post because of the blogging element and because you see a journey of two characters and that is what I hope to create here – my progress in creating a solo performance. What you will be able to follow is research I undertake, examples of the work I’m developing, comments on others work which influence and inspire me and finally how I’m feeling about the whole process.

So, as my mouse tentatively hovers over the publish button the immortal words of Heath Ledger’s Joker comes into my mind….

“Here. We. GO!”

  1. I found both performances very interesting. The solo performance was thought provoking. As a non drama person it has been good to have the blog to follow to read how it all developed. I did two round trips of 240 miles and it was well worth it. Really hope David continues performing as he leaves Uni and enters the real world.
