I’m putting up a clip from another Australian comedian; people will start to think that I’m trying to win favour with my tutor. The truth is that I really like the surreal nature of Minchin’s comedy – you can probably tell by now that I do want to create a comic piece which is why so much of my inspiration is drawn from stand up comedians. At some point you will see me posting something about Lee Evans and his character work. I particularly like this piece though because of the timing; someone else was considering doing a performance on the same topic about going to Doctors and personal issues so I recommended this clip to them for inspiration. You can look at their website by clicking here.
But for me it’s about the interior monologue coming forth which was something I was going to explore but am doing in another way – through conversations. It’s also about what a solo performance is; making the personal public. I don’t know if any of this speech is true and if parts are then they’ve been exaggerated but there is also that exploration of truth in a performance. Once again; enjoy the clip and let me know what you think. This is Tim Minchin’s attempt to be a poet; the poem called Angry or (feet).
